PRE-SCHOOL ASSIGNMENTS - 1
- This assignment will start before the start of the seminar and will be completed during the seminar.
- Please choose any discipline of knowledge from among (a) health and biological sciences (b) physical sciences (c) social sciences/humanities.
- For each chosen discipline summarize the following aspects for further discussion during the school:
- Definition and classification.
- Historical development.
- Basic Principles and Paradigms.
- Main Research Methods.
- Critique of the disciplines in terms of using the 2 sources of knowledge: transmission (‘naql ) and reason (‘aql ).
- Publications on the discipline from the Islamic perspective.
PRE-SCHOOL ASSIGNMENTS - 2
- Choose a university course you are familiar with preferably one you have taught before or are teaching at the moment
- Critique the course outline in terms of the sources of knowledge
- Propose ‘Islamic input’ additions to the course outline to fulfill the requirements of integration of knowledge. Note that the extent of needed integration varies from course to course and that some need very little.
- Produce an integrated course outline for discussion during the seminar
